Did you see Iggy and the Stooges at Glastonbury on telly? Genius
Hedges? Benson? George?
Grinderman? Don't get me started...
Iggy, what a show. However, I've always thought that saxaphone on 1970 sucked and they proved me right.
Hedges as in small, cropped trees.
Grinderman, great sonic sound but the song writing is ultra weak. A big disappointment except for No Pussy Blues. It was the same band I saw him play with doing Bad Seeds stuff last year in Cambridge and they were fan-fucking-tastic. I really hope he sharpens his pencil for the next Bad Seeds offering.
I kind of dig the free jazz sax, it's a surprise for sure when you first hear it. Iggy was a blast of unpredictable nihilism in a morass of otherwise feel good rock n roll professionalism. I love the way the Stooges sounded so pared back, mechanical.
Topiary?
Grinderman is just laughable - ageing Aussie men going once more around the block with the outlaw rawk cliche.
