Returning from the opening day of the Design Museum's Wim Crouwel retrospective, A Graphic Odyssey, I can whole heartedly agree with Creative Review blog that it is one of the best exhibitions that has been staged there. The first year graphic design students that a colleague and I took were amazed by the fact this work wasn't done with a computer. This led to many interesting conversations about how much of the terminology Photoshop uses for its tools comes from pre-digital processes and much guessing of how some of the imagery was produced. A similar reaction and conversations happened when I took second year students to see the Barney Bubbles exhibition at Chelsea Space last year.
